Paola has many years of experience in working with both adults and children.
Her comprehensive and ongoing studies, combined with her considerable clinical and personal experiences, have helped her to develop a treatment approach which takes into account, and addresses, the many and varied aspects of people’s health.
As described by the General Osteopathic Council, osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the principle that the wellbeing of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.
“My treatment approach is centered around you and my aim is to give you long lasting health benefits that go beyond simple pain relief. I love to see people getting better and regaining control of their health and will spend time listening to your health issues and needs, struggles and stories, and how I can support you through your health journey. Over the years, I have helped many people like you, who experience a wide range of symptoms and conditions.”
The following are just some of the health issues that Paola works with:
- Back and various joint pain
- Digestive issues such as IBS, reflux, constipation
- Respiratory problems such as sinusitis
- Irregular, painful menstrual cycles or pre-menstrual symptoms
- Urinary problems
- Pre and post-natal care
- Pelvic pain
Craniosacral Therapy for adults and children
The principles of osteopathy apply to new-born babies, young children and teenagers as well as adults.
Muscular tensions can have an impact on babies in many different ways, such as limited movement of their head, discomfort when lying on their back, and difficulties with digestion. Very gentle cranial osteopathic techniques can help to release and balance areas of physical tension, helping to calm and relax as well as promoting freer movement where the muscles have been tight.
Paola also sees young children presenting with a wide range of common childhood conditions such as digestion issues, aches and pains, as well as more complex conditions.
In teenage years injuries such as sprained ankle or bad posture can lead to whole body compensatory pattern.Stiffness or restricted mobility in the pelvis, spine, ribcage etc can make it difficult to compensate for the injury or bad posture and aching or pain may result.
Paola often sees teenagers with pain caused by poor posture, rapid physical development, inability to relax due to school stress and sports injuries.
As an osteopath she looks beyond conditions and takes a holistic approach to the patient, using gentle manual techniques to restore, maintain and support health and wellbeing.
What to expect at your first consultation
The first visit lasts 1 hour. It begins with an extensive discussion of symptoms, medical history, general health and lifestyle, to really get to the bottom of what is causing your symptoms. Paola is interested in treating the root causes of your symptoms, to give you long lasting benefits and better overall health.
A hands-on examination of the body will also be performed. You will normally be asked to remove some of your clothing to make the assessment easier and more precise.
The examination aims at identifying areas of the body that are under tension or not functioning as well as they could and are disrupting your health.
Following the examination, Paola will:
- Discuss the findings with you
- Explain you why you are experiencing certain symptoms or feeling unwell
- Treat you
- Discuss a treatment plan and how many treatments are necessary
- Give you recommendations about diet, exercises and possible lifestyle changes, in order to help you take a better care of your health and prevent symptoms from reoccurring.
